Labour requirements

Strawberry growing, picking and packing is a people intensive operation requiring workers with a diverse range of skills. 

Peak production is September to Christmas particularly in Auckland and Waikato, although strawberries are grown in smaller quantities through to May/June in the lower latitudes.  Innovations in growing are also resulting in an extentions of the growing season.
