Biosecurity

Spotted Wing Drosophia (Drosophila suzukii) is an emerging invasive pest currently not present in New Zealand.  It can cause severe damage to strawberries and New Zealand scientists are currently working with Plant Health Australia to improve our biosecurity preparedness.
